Nicola Levy Knitwear is made by hand in Los Angeles by a group of skilled craftsmen, supporting local industry. Knitwear sweaters and accessories are hand loomed and all have finishing touches of crochet or stitching worked by experienced sewers.
The yarns chosen are always natural and of the highest quality, imported from Italian mills. The primary yarn used is a blend of 75% extra fine merino wool and 25% angora. When the garment is complete it goes through a washing and drying process. This brings out the natural oils thus achieving a finish that is extremely soft, sumptuous and decadent, just like cashmere. Hence it is perfect for babies and soft enough to be worn next to the skin.
Buttons are wood, metal or shell and often bring some whimsy to the garment. Colors tend to be stony, and in the baby wear, if traditional colours are used, they are always mixed with earth tones. This sense of style and color results in a garment that is not classically “cute”. In fact, many a parent has asked if they are made for adults too.
